Our nurse doesn't diagnose or change treatment. What we give your doctor is a clear picture of what actually happens at home between appointments — which is usually the missing piece. If a review is needed quickly, a Diagnex doctor consultation can be arranged by video or at home, and tests collected at home.

Week one

Visits every morning at 10, so the day has an anchor. The nurse spends the first days simply becoming familiar — no checklist pushed on someone who doesn't yet know her.

Week two

Medicines settle into a routine. The nurse notices evenings are harder and suggests a simpler evening routine to the family's attendant, who tries it that week.

Week three

The pattern is written up and shared with the neurologist before the next review — including the two nights she tried to leave the flat, and what stopped it.

Caring for someone younger?

Early-onset dementia — diagnosed before 65 — is a different situation, and it's badly served. The person may still be working or driving. The carer is usually a husband or wife rather than a child. Decisions about money, work and licences arrive alongside the diagnosis.

The nursing care is the same: routine, medicines, safety, and clear reporting to the neurologist. What changes is who we talk to and how we talk about it. If you're arranging this for a partner or sibling, say so on the free call and we'll plan it that way from the start.

What families ask us first.

My parent doesn't accept strangers.

We keep the same nurse and start slowly. The first visits are about becoming familiar, not getting through a checklist. This is the most common worry families bring us, and it's usually the first thing that settles.

What about night-time confusion, or someone being needed all day?

The nurse guides the family and reports patterns to the doctor. Where a continuous presence is needed, we arrange a trained attendant through Diagnex Nursing and Caregiver services, with your nurse and supervisor still running the clinical side.

Will the nurse help with bathing or feeding?

No. Our Care Nurses are trained nurses and handle clinical care. Help with bathing, dressing or feeding is arranged separately through Diagnex Nursing and Caregiver services, working alongside your nurse.

Can the nurse tell us whether it's dementia?

No. Diagnosis belongs to a neurologist or psychiatrist. What our nurse can do is record what's happening at home clearly enough that the doctor can decide properly, and help you get that appointment.

What if things get worse?

They may, and we'll say so honestly rather than stretching a plan past what it can safely cover. We'll recommend more frequent visits, full-day nursing, or a different level of care, and help you arrange it.
